I have held a full
“lass A” licence since aged 18 in 1961.
In those days it was mandatory
to pass a full written technical examination.
In addition it was a
requirement to pass a morse code test, send & receive at 12 words per
minute.
THERE WERE NO ALTERNATIVES TO
THE CONDITIONS MENTIONED ABOVE.
